DevOps Engineer

Minerva Analytics, the latest team to emerge from Cogo’s proven incubator model, is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our team! Using Cogo’s extensive data warehouse, the Minerva team is building communities of users on the internet through a combination of rapid-development web property tools, scalable user acquisition, and extensive competitive and performance analysis. At our core we are a media company that employs data-driven, analytical methodologies to create profitable web businesses.

About the job:

We are looking for a strong problem solver who is passionate about working with technology on the Minerva Analytics engineering team. You'll be building performant and maintainable software that is responsible for the continued success of Minerva's daily operations. Your work will enable our team to entirely focus on growth - you'll be the first line of defense against day-to-day problems that arise from our systems. You aren't just another cog in the wheel here: your work will actively determine the success of our products.

A successful candidate will…

  • Have experience building performant software in Python.
  • Have an understanding of SQL and best practices with data.
  • Enjoy solving complex problems and working with our engineering team to solve them.
  • Think about performance, maintainability, and testing throughout an application's design and implementation phases.
  • Thrive in a fast paced, data-driven environment.

Bonus points for:

  • Experience with Github, TravisCI, Docker, or Kubernetes
  • Experience in consumer-focused internet businesses
  • Expert-level skill with something unrelated to computers (Legos, an instrument, carpentry, precision ax-throwing, anything).

An Insider's view of Cogo Labs

What are some social events your company does?

Every year we have a Cogo cruise where we take the day off from the office and take a cruise around the Boston harbor. In addition, we have monthly women's dinners, LGTBQ centered events and much more!

Braden

Brand Marketing Coordinator

What does your typical day look like?

My top priorities are hiring for Senior level talent, looking into the recruiting funnel data to identify roadblocks, managing my team to help execute on goals, and continuing to build an efficient recruiting function to support Cogo as we scale.

Emily

Talent Acquisition Lead

What are some things you learned at the company?

I’ve always felt that my input is valued here, but also that I’m encouraged to use my voice and to make a difference in the growth of the business – whether that’s developing new partnerships or improving and owning new processes. People here are supportive, intelligent and kind. And fun. I’ve also enjoyed grabbing a drink with a colleague!

Claire

Account Manager

What unique initiatives do you have that encourage innovation?

One of the most exciting things about working at Cogo is the incredible variety I see in the career paths of my peers. As an employee becomes more experienced their responsibilities shift to follow their interests, whether in building cool stuff, analyzing crazy amounts of data, or managing a team.

Nate

Lead Analyst

How does the company support your career growth?

I have never worked in an environment where individual contributors have been appreciated and encouraged as much as they are here, and it shows people’s energy and optimism. This success is also fueled by Cogo’s commitment to transparency and easy access to our leaders who consistently make organizational goals clear."

Pete

HR Coordinator
