Pilot Plant Manager

Responsibilities:

 

Effectively complete on-boarding including technical training and drafting the pilot plant commissioning plan

 

Develop “real time” tools to communicate status of trails, batches and results to stakeholders

 

Program Development:

  • Complete HAZOP studies on all unit operations
  • Develop operating procedures and safety policies for pilot plant and equipment
  • Develop a preventive maintenance program for equipment

Establish requirements for hires and initiate hiring processes

  • Hire 2-3 technicians
  • Train staff so that they are proficient in manufacturing processes

Produce the first successful batch of SYM in the pilot plant

  • Define protocols and processes for introduction and scale up of new SYMs

 

Competencies:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Hands-on, mechanically-inclined, willing to get hands dirty
  • Ability to interact and influence at all levels of the organization
  • Resourceful / can network with external partners (i.e. contractors, equipment vendors, facility service providers)
  • Able to work collaboratively with internal and external partners
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, changing priorities and tight timelines
  • Curious, innovative, outside of the box thinker
  • Strong technical expertise, general knowledge of unit-operations and scaling
  • Project management and data analysis skills
  • General knowledge of Q.C./Q.A., KPI, etc.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently

Qualifications:

  • 5-7+ years of experience in process development/engineering or production
  • 3-5 years of managing and developing people
  • BS in a science or engineering degree
  • Experience with OSHA and Lab/Pilot Plant safety
  • Experience working in or running a pilot facility.
  • Involvement in the start up of a new facility is a plus
